Care Worker

 

We have a full time vacancy for a carer/ support worker who is sympathetic and appreciative of our Christian ethos and values, to join our skilled team who provide an excellent standard of care for adults with mental health problems in our residential care home.

In this role you will be working with vulnerable adults, to encourage them towards independence and to participate as fully as possible in community life; contributing to their physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs.

Experience in liaising with other professionals and agencies is an essential requirement, as well as good communication skills (verbal and written English). Practice in advocacy, administration and computer literacy is an essential requirement. You will need to be able to demonstrate confidence in decision making in the event of a crisis, as well as experience in carrying out a range of supportive, practical and domestic skills.

A full manual driving licence is essential, plus the ability to work as part of a team and also alone unsupervised. Shifts include a variety of day/ evening/weekend/on call duties. Significant experience in working with vulnerable adults with mental health issues is essential and related qualifications desirable

Estimated Gross Pay is in the range of £18,561 - 19,463 (which includes allowances see below)

 

Holidays - Initially 28 days (including Bank Holidays) pro rata increasing to a maximum of 33 days a year (including Bank Holidays).

Contributory Pension Scheme (optional) is open to all staff after three months employment. Crossways contributes 3.5% for the first nine months of the scheme and 7.5% (up to £1,400 p.a.) of basic pay after a minimum of 12 months employment. Employees must contribute at least 2.5% of their salary.

Sleep-in Allowance - £26.30 a shift

Weekend/Bank Holiday (additional allowance) £12.60 per shift

Job Requirements: Applicants must be/have the following essential qualities

Mobility: Ability to climb stairs & a full manual Driving Licence

Flexibility to work day/sleep-in/weekends/evenings/on-call  pager shifts or duties as required

Ability to work as part of a team and alone unsupervised.

Experience of working with other organisations.

Satisfactory references including an Enhanced CRB Disclosure & medical reference from your GP
