For over 40 years Crossways has been providing residential care and support for people with mental and emotional problems. Although we have on occasions provided some ongoing support to people who have left Crossways to live in the community, this has not be a core activity. We have been looking over the past few years at ways of extending the knowledge and experience we have built up to inform, and help others to support people directly in the community. Out main means of doing this is via our Mental Health Awareness programme. Rather than being providing training for mental health professionals or those working directly with people with mental health problems, we have targeted this course at the majority of people who have their own or know friends with mild emotional problems but don’t always know how to help. Royal College of Psychiatrists have some helpful and well written leaflets that are available on their website. |
